  • 2009: A Reflection of Loved Ones Lost

It’s the holiday season and now is the time to be with people you love most.  Gathering around the table with close family and beloved friends sharing stories about good times you’ve had, only to then reflect and those who could be there with you, but have moved on.  With the recent passing of one of our favorite actresses Brittany Murphy, it got me thinking about how many talented, fun-loving and moving people we have lost this year alone.

    (no order)

    Michael Jackson
The 50 year-old legend (maybe) shocked the world with his unexpected death.  He changed the world with his music and paved the way for pop stars as he charmed us with hits like, “Beat It”, “Don’t Stop til You Get Enough”, and “Thriller.”

    DJ AM
The death of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), who was at the time a recovering drug addict, left the music world wondering how someone so young with such a bright future can be so troubled.  But he unfortunately did not recover well after surviving a fatal airplane crash with friend Travis Barker in 2008.

    Billy Mays

His infamous infomercials and distinct pitchman tone got all of us watching and ready to dial when he came on the TV.  His shocking death leaves us now wondering how to use Oxi Clean.

    Ed McMahon
For more than 30 years, he announced for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  He hosted several shows since then including Star Search.  Late night television will never be the same without him.

    Brittany Murphy
The recent news of “Clueless” star Brittany Murphy has left us scratching our heads wondering, how?  How could someone so young, full of life and precious leave us so soon?  Let’s be thankful that we were fortunate enough to watch her blossom on the movie screen and love her performances.

    Farrah Fawcett
Miss pin-up queen and Charlie’s Angel lost her battle with cancer but only to leave us with great television classics to watch for years to come.  Her infamous red bathing suit photo is a must-have for every man’s office.  (For my dad at least.)

    John Hughes
The ’80s king of high-school angst films left us in August.  His movies did not.  Films like Sixteen Candles, Home Alone, The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are still loved by many.

    Natasha Richardson
Natasha is a perfect example of why skiing is dangerous.  I have never skied and never will.  This beautiful life was lost but fortunately God blessed us with her presence and her wonderful talent on Broadway and on-screen.

    Patrick Swayze
The sexy man left us dancing dirty and in mourning when he succumbed to cancer in September.  His films and Broadway appearances showcased this talented actor with his dancing shoes and dramatic flare in movies like Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and Donnie Darko.

Share your thoughts.  For you who was the biggest lost?
