  • College Students are Literally Addicted to Media

Does going a day without a cell phone (no texting!), a computer, any Internet access, an MP3 player, or a TV sound like torture to you?

You’re not alone. 200 college students from Maryland took part in a study where they abstained from media use for 24 hours. The result? Complaints in the same language used by drug addicts to describe withdrawal.

  • Taxi driving is noble. Taxi drivers are not.

A strong feeling of pride rushed through me as I was leaving the supermarket – I had somehow managed to purchase two weeks worth of groceries totalling to $85, a figure that was well under my initial shopping budget. For someone that is attracted to spending senselessly on useless items when shopping (one time, I spent $140 on just one week’s worth of food – but it wasn’t my fault! The haloumi cheese, Loreal face-wash, and fresh mussels seduced me…. and maybe also the upscale, imported olive oil as well), this was by far a new personal record. But my feeling of accomplishment ceased the moment I exited the main doors of the building – suddenly I had six very large, very heavy bags of food to carry home.

It was 6pm and the rush hour just reached it’s peak; inside one of the bags laid a carton of ice lollies. After careful reasoning, I knew there was no bloody way I was taking the bus home with all this.

So I decided to take a taxi.

  • What Women Really Do in Restrooms

yesterday, i was asked the age old question:
what do women REALLY do when they use the restroom?

well… sort of. it was actually phrased like this:
why do women always feel the need to announce when they are going to the bathroom?

    my answer:
because we take so damn long! you see, half the time we aren’t even using the bathroom….

note: you might need to click to enlarge some of these teeny tiny pictures!  Continue reading

  • My 10 SHORT Role Models!

    “Tall is beautiful.”

I grew up with the media telling me that attractive was tall. However, I do not believe that is the case. Small can be pretty too! Height is not everything; that is why I wanted to compile a list of my favourite short (under 5’4″) actresses that have inspired me. It sucks that tall is seen as the ideal for women, but these celebrities prove themselves, despite their height. In making this list, I figured out that some of my favourite actresses happen to be short! Tall is overrated.

  • Worlds Apart

Sometimes it seems like people have a mold that you are supposed to fit in. Not only fit in but a mold that someone else decided defines as the boundaries you can not cross in your life. If you do all Hell breaks loose.

This is not talking about a parent child things but more to the friend end of the relationship spectrum.

It becomes like a battlefield…. You are told to “Dare to be Yourself” and “Your Inner Self is Beautiful” but then find yourself on a landmine being ripped to pieces because your feelings on as little of one subject remains different than the friend that you had otherwise had a good relationship with.

Sometimes it is like we run into people who nitpicks at our current beliefs like its a friendship breaker when before that we always had gotten along.

  • Reading blogs is LOVE

I haven’t been updating here much recently. Here’s why:

    1. School is time-consuming! I just finished my last exam and its been great. I think during the summer, I might blog more often. As much as I used to? Maybe not, but more than the last couple of weeks. Really though, I haven’t had much time to even journal. School is stressful!

in a Journalism program, therefore its a good idea to start building up my portfolio.am2. I’ve been more into writing journalistic articles- which is the responsible thing to do: I mean, I

    3. Facebook. Yuck I know. I spend way too much time on that site. It’s gross. Half of the time, I don’t even know what I’m doing and then it turns out a whole chunk of time has gone by. I like looking at pictures. It’s such a mindless activity, its almost like a destressor for school. Going on Facebook doesn’t require much thinking and I think that’s why I like it. Oh and I can’t forget responding to friends’ comments and commenting on posts. Yikes! So much time is consumed!

Anyway. I wanted to share with you (all 3 of my regular readers, yes you! haha) why I love reading blogs
