  • Noticing How I’ve Changed

    Looking back, I’ve noticed how much I have changed. A few weeks ago I looked at old some online IM chats from when I was 16 and I’m really embarrassed at my spelling, how I talked. I used to talk with slang. I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks back and finds things they did as a kid/teen really embarrassing now.

    In honor of the holiday, I decided to make this a special edition of XangaSecret featuring only secrets relating to love, heartache, and everything in between.  It is not surprising that there are quite a few declarations of Xanga crushes in this video.  Something else I observed that I found interesting was how many of the secrets had similar themes.  It seems that people aren’t as alone in their thought processes as they might think.

    Employers are asking job recruiting agencies to shy away from applicants in their twenties, according to an article in Australia’s Courier-Mail. And although this news comes from an entirely different hemisphere, I think those Aussies might be on to something.

    In terms of employee demographics, most recruiters think of workers in their twenties as part of a larger group—Generation Y. Definitions vary, but most people use “Gen Y” and “Millennial Generation” to refer to people born between 1985 and 2004. Thus, most Gen Y-ers in the market for full-time jobs are currently in their twenties.

    While I am not one for getting excited over spirit-type things, the Olympics are pretty damn exciting.

    The 2010 Winter Olympics have just started and Vancouver is a centre of activity and excitement. I live approximately an hour away with my mom and ten minutes away at my dad’s. I was watching the opening ceremonies earlier, wow, it is quite amazing. Ah :)

    I used to be one of the cynics of Valentine’s Day. I thought it was a holiday invented to make single people feel bad about being single. That was until I was in a relationship on Valentine’s Day… guess what? Not so great. There is so much pressure on couples to have such an amazing, romantic day that it ends up not being that fun. I’ve witnessed first hand the strain that Valentine’s Day can put on couples. So now I prefer to be single on this holiday.

    I was talking with a certain Xangan and the concept of “settling down with one person” came up.  ”When does a guy ever settle down in a city like New York?” I quipped.

    Back in my first year of college, I worked in a trendy Japanese restaurant as a lowly busboy.   It was a pretty large place, so there were 3 hostesses working on the weekends. All of them were amazingly cute, but one was particularly gorgeous.  But at that stage of my life, I was too chicken to do anything about it.  After all, she was beautiful and every guy in the place gave her flirty smiles on a daily basis, and I was just some lowly busboy.  Clearly, she was out of my league.  In fact, at the time, I believed all of the hostesses were out of my league.

    For about a year, I would diligently do my job at admire their beauty from afar.
