Trends I Refuse to Subscribe To!
The following is a list I’ve compiled of things that I don’t like, find annoying, and/or perplex me:
Plaid/flannel shirts - I don’t think less of you if you’re in the tree-chopping business and eat a hearty stack of pancakes every day. This might have been an okay trend if everyone didn’t fill their wardrobe with them. That brings me to my next point.
Peace sign bracelets- Why does everyone wear these? It’s a bronze-looking peace sign with colored leather rope. I don’t get it. I thought the peace-sign trend died in the 70s. I may have worn a peace sign + heart = smiley face shirt in elementary, but I didn’t know any better.
Cow and giraffe print purses- I’m not sure if this is a disease that’s spread across the nation or it’s just an epidemic in Texas. It’s hideous. Also, see leather studded cross purses. I don’t know whether the people who buy these do it because they want to flaunt their love for Jesus or buy them just because they’re under the impression that they look good. I think the ladies who buy these are also typically wanna-be MILFs. The hard-core cross, giraffe, and cow-print purses just don’t strike me as an aesthetically pleasing look.
Ed Hardy- Also trashy is the Ed Hardy attire. Ugh. I automatically think less of the people I see wearing this crap. It just looks so trashy.
Twitter- I don’t understand why this is so popular. I’m proud to say that I’ve never visited the website, nor do I intend to. Isn’t it just like Facebook, but only status updates? I honestly don’t care to hear your daily play-by-play. Going grocery shopping! Getting my grub on at McD’s! Taking a crap! No one really cares.
Twilight- I’ll admit, I thought that vampires were cool before this became the cool thing for tween girls. Have you noticed all the vampire crap TV shows, attire, even makeup lines (wtf) that have popped up since Twilight’s success? It’s one thing if you are, in fact, a twelve year old girl who’s all for “Team Edward,” but for those girls in my college classes raving about “Newmie”- act your age. Even worse are the Twilight moms.
Kristen Stewart- Since Twilight was such a hit, this girl’s become quite the little starlet. I’m sick of seeing her face everywhere. She has no emotions, from what I can see. I was looking forward to seeing Adventureland, dammit. The commercials made it looks like it’d be funny. It had the cop from Superbad, but he was hardly in the movie, instead it was some dumb “love” story with a girl who’s emotionless.
Lady Gaga- Okay, she does have some catchy tunes. In fact, I can tolerate one or two of her songs, but for the most part, her lyrics are crap. That one song about her being hammered in a club just makes me think that the girl’s a complete idiot. First of all, I just don’t like the way she looks with the platinum-white hair and spray-on-tan orange skin. And the things she wears? I don’t understand. It’s really just baffling to me.
Bumpits- Is it just because I’m in Texas that people think that bigger is better? Big hair? Just makes you look like an alien with an over-sized head to me.
Leggings/Tights in place of pants- This is just inappropriate. It doesn’t make it permissable just because your shirt covers your butt. Put some damn pants on! Honestly, I don’t think leggings under shorts looks good either. If it’s too cold outside to wear shorts, why don’t you just don a pair of jeans?
Do you agree or disagree? What “trends” do you find annoying?
